This Barcelona are alive. And they showed it with a tough win over Real Sociedad that allowed them to board the title train. The best version of Barcelona appeared at the opportune moment.

They overcame the Liga leaders with a good footballing display, especially in the first half, although they were inefficient in attack which meant they suffered late on. Funnily enough the goalscorers were Jordi Alba and Frenkie de Jong, who aren't your typical finishers.

Leo Messi could not score, one goal away from Pele's 643 record with Santos. Neither could Griezmann, who hit the bar and missed an open goal before being subbed off.

But this time they were able to complete their comeback and deny the visitors, who are having a fine season. Their last win over Barca at Camp Nou was May 20, 1991, and Koeman was there as witness.

Not tonight. Barca found their style again, that they should never renounce. Once more they showed that is the best, and perhaps only, way for them to succeed and win trophies. Now they need to find their goalscoring touch, a little, insignificant detail......
