Ansu Fati will be Barça's best summer signing. The La Masia graduate is nearing a full recovery from injury, with everything suggesting that he will be in contention for first team action after the international break. It is most likely that he will be involved in the squad for the home match against Granada on 19 September, but there's a small chance that he could be involved in the away trip to Sevilla eight days earlier. Whenever it is, the return of the talented winger will represent excellent news for FC Barcelona and its head coach, Ronald Koeman. Since getting injured in the match against Real Betis on 7 November 2020, in which he suffered a rupture of the internal meniscus in his left knee, Ansu has had a torrid time. Four surgeries on and ten months later, the player is now on the verge of a return to competitive football.

Ansu only managed to play ten matches last season (seven in LaLiga and three in the Champions League). However, in this handful of appearances, the young player was able to demonstrate his exceptional quality, scoring 5 times and registering 4 assists in only 596 minutes, thus participating in a goal every 66 minutes. Fati will be a fantastic option for FC Barcelona, who are still finding their feet in the post-Messi era. There are even whispers that the young prodigy could inherit Messi's legendary '10' shirt.

The winger's return will serve as a reminder that good times are just around the corner. Alongside Pedri, he is the footballer who Barcelona fans and members are most excited about. He is a unique player, whose meteoric rise to stardom was cruelly interrupted by his terrible injury. Seeing videos of the player returning to first team training will have brought a much-needed smile to the faces of many Barça fans, who can now look to the future with optimism. I am convinced that Koeman will get the most out of his talents, and that he will strike up a frightening partnership with new signing Memphis. I talk of a 'partnership' rather than a 'tridente', because Griezmann is another matter altogether...
