Barça had to beat Espanyol to be mathematically champions. The title was assured, but it had to be certified with a victory in a derby that was as unequal as it was decisive. Because if Barça were playing for the title, Espanyol were playing to avoid relegation. Everything indicated, therefore, a match of high tension. But nothing could have been further from the truth. Barça, offering their best footballing version, achieved a comfortable victory that allowed them to win the league again after three seasons of drought. The Blaugrana were far superior from the first minute and before the break they had already put the game to bed with two goals from Pichichi Lewandowski and another from Balde.

The sides weren't close in a derby that allowed Xavi's team to win and almost definitively condemned the Blue and Whites to relegation to the second division. Xavi's Barça are now champions, deservedly so, after a brilliant season (with 27 wins in the 34 games played so far) and an abysmal lead over their rivals (14 points over Madrid and 16 over Atlético). The undisputed Blaugrana dominance, curiously based on an enormous defensive solvency (only 13 goals conceded and 25 clean sheets), has been justly rewarded.

A TITLE THAT WILL GIVE STABILITY

Winning the league was a priority objective for Barça. Because it is the title that gives the club stability. And it allows the club to continue to move forward without pressure in the construction of an unfinished project. This Barça, which has dominated the Spanish competition with enormous superiority, has shown itself to be too weak in Europe. The Champions League has been a forbidden dream for too many years in which Blaugrana's participation has been written in disappointments and failures. The league title gives Xavi credibility and arguments for Laporta to continue investing in signings. Among them, Messi. The return of the Argentinian star could be a reality this summer if, as it seems, Tebas approves the economic viability plan presented by the Culé board.

Without this league, which has a lot of value even though it has been won with such a big lead (or precisely because of it), it would be more difficult to maintain such a brave and risky gamble. That's why we have to celebrate this championship in style, with a big parade through the city that will allow all Cules to unleash the euphoria that has been repressed for too many years. Barça are champions once again and that, without a doubt, is extraordinary news that deserves a huge party. Because Barça is once again Barça.
