There's good news and bad news on the injury front for Pizzi ahead of the Uruguay game

Chile returned to training on Friday in preparation for Tuesday’s game with Uruguay, just a few hours after their 0-0 draw with Colombia in Barranquilla.

Juan Antonio Pizzi’s squad did some light recovery work with the bonus of Claudio Bravo and Arturo Vidal both being involved.

Both players were unable to finish the goalless draw against Colombia, but they were able to do some work on Friday and they hope they will be available for the game against Uruguay.

However, the big doubt is Alexis Sanchez, who didn’t travel to Colombia and has not trained since, either. The Arsenal midfielder’s spark was missed in Thursday’s game.

Fabian Orellana and Edson Puch are also doubts with muscle problems, but Gary Medel will return having missed the last game suspended.

Manchester City will be relieved with the update on Bravo. There were fears the goalkeeper would be out of action for a few weeks, but his appearance on Friday has minimised those worries.

Uruguay are currently second, while Chile are fifth, which is not an automatic qualifying spot but would see them progress to an inter-confederational playoff.

The four qualifying spots are currently taken up by Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia and Ecuador, while Argentina are sixth.
