The Argentine forward is among Real Madrid's top 10 goalscorers

Gonzalo Higuain responded to his critics after he was called up to the Argentina squad in Manchester. He reminded them he's among the top 10 goalscorers in Real Madrid's history.

"I played at Real Madrid. I'm in the top 10 goalscorers at the club. In the national team the top six. In Napoli the top 10. I hope to make the Juventus top 10. To have scored over 100 goals in Spain is not easy. My life was always like this. I always try to give my best. I always listen to the critics. Of the best players they always want more, with respect. Thanks to my family I have a strong head.

"Those who don't want me (in the team), will have to put up with it. I'm going to keep playing football. It's true that I spoke with Sampaoli and well, in the moment maybe was not the best (when he was dropped), but now I am much better and I am here to help the team and am very happy to be able to do so again."

Finally, he said that he wanted to keep playing for many more years at the top level in Europe. "I want to improve. I want to play a lot more years, it's not easy to play for 12 years in Europe at the top level, in huge teams which have amazing mental and physical demands on you. This wears you down a bit. But I'm happy with how I'm doing right now. I hope to enjoy it and bring it to the national team."
