Saudi Arabia want to bring Messi & Ronaldo to country's Pro League

They have set their sights on the game's two biggest names

Saudi Arabia wants to bring together two of football's biggest stars, Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi, in its domestic league. The Portuguese international has already received a multi-million dollar proposal from Saudi Al Nasr and negotiations are advanced, while Saudi football also wants to speak with the Argentina forward after the World Cup, although there has already been contact.

Ronaldo's abrupt departure from Manchester United may have a lot to do with the offer now on the table. He wanted to play at the highest level until the World Cup in Qatar and refused to leave this summer to stay in the Premier League, but he has forced his departure from United. It is not ruled out that he could play six months at Newcastle, on loan as they have Saudi owners, but the goal is for him to go to Al Nasr to finish his career. There is talk of figures of more than €200 million net for two seasons.

That is not all. Saudi Arabia will also go after Leo Messi to boost their league. In fact, the Argentine star has already signed a contract as Saudi Arabia's tourism ambassador for astronomical figures. The figure has not been leaked but could be more than $100 million for five years. And then he would have the option of playing in the country with a net salary that is unattainable for any club in the world.

The president of the Federation of Saudi Arabia, Yasser Al-Misehal, has already acknowledged in Argentine newspaper 'La Nación' that they are going to try with Messi: "We want to talk about this, about signing for a Saudi team, after the World Cup."

Messi visited Saudi Arabia in May to be part of the tourism campaign. He was accompanied by his brother and some other Argentine players. They filmed in several photographic spots. Leo has been able to see the country firsthand and already knows that they love him. At the moment he will play until the end of the season with PSG to win the Champions League, but then his contract expires.

Saudi Arabia, just like Qatar has done, is betting on football to make itself known and improve its international image. A year ago, they bought Newcastle and in Spain there was a private investment in Almería, but also with the approval of the Saudi regime. They want to organise a World Cup and they are going to try everything to make it happen. Bringing Messi and Cristiano would be huge.
