Kylian Mbappe says he has paid all his taxes himself
Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe says he pays all the taxes on his earnings, not the club as reported in some media this week.
"I want to make clear that I pay all my taxes in France -- on all my income," he explained in an interview with France Info.
Mbappe added that it's "totally false" that he demanded PSG pay him 10 million euros to cover his tax bill, as claimed in the latest installment of Football Leaks this week, published by Mediapart.
"For me," he continued, "the imporant thing was to see in which club I could give my best and continue my progression. I chose PSG."
Once he had opted to move to the French capital, there were negotiations but everything he did complied with the rules, added the 19-year-old striker.
Mbappe, who until the summer of 2017 played in Monaco, was bought by PSG -- and not by Real Madrid, who also tried to sign him -- in a deal that included a free loan the first year with a mandatory option to pay 145 million euros the following season and an additional 35 million more if his contract was extended.
At first, it was thought that the phasing of the payment was done so that PSG did not violate UEFA's Financial Fair Play riles, having already spent 222 million on Neymar that summer.
However, according to "Football Leaks", in reality the deal served to avoid the payment of a tax in France.
Asked about the revelations also of "Football Leaks" that PSG used ethnic criteria to sign youngsters for their academy, Mbappe did not want to say anything because he doesn't know about the situation.
