Mazinho, the duo's father, has revealed PSG's interest in Thiago

In an interview with France Football, Mazinho, the father of Liverpool's Thiago Alcantara and Paris Saint-Germain's Rafinha, revealed that PSG sporting director tried to sign Thiago in the summer from Bayern Munich, only to end up with his brother.

"I had already spoken with Leonardo a while ago, but about Thiago," Mazinho said. "Leonardo wanted to sign him for PSG but Thiago had already reached an agreement with Liverpool.

"Later, we spoke about Rafa, but he wasn't in Leonardo's plans at that moment. I think he must have thought about it and when we spoke again, he had changed his opinion.

"Everything accelerated on the final day. It was a Monday and we had to work hard to convince both clubs. We were worried, but thanks to God, five or six hours before the deadline, we reached an agreement.

"Leonardo wanted Thiago, he got Rafinha. And for Rafa, it was a dream to join a club like PSG."

So far, Thiago has only played two games for Liverpool, the first a 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Premier League and the second a 2-2 draw in the Merseyside derby against Everton.

Meanwhile, Rafinha has played five times for PSG, three appearances in Ligue 1 and two in the Champions League. PSG have won four of those games and lost one, against Manchester United in the Champions League.
