Pairs Saint-Germain, who have flirted with punishment for breaking Financial Fair Play rules by signing Neymar (222m) and Kylian Mbappe (180m), have been let off the hook by the Court of Arbitration for Sport because of an error by UEFA.

UEFA re-opened an investigation into PSG's spending but did not do it within the timeframe specified in their own rules. The CAS have ruled in PSG's favour and the French club will not be punished.

"The CAS Panel concurred that the 10-day time limit which starts to run from the date of communication of the decision of the Chief Investigator to the CFCB Chairman, as set out in Article 16 (1) of the Applicable Rules, did indeed mean that the review conducted by the Adjudicatory Chamber should have taken place within ten days and that since the Challenged Decision was issued beyond the 10-day time limit," a CAS statement read. "The Challenged Decision was untimely and must be annulled."

There will be no financial implications or transfer bans for PSG's spending, then. UEFA could investigate their finances again at the end the current season, when this campaign's spending will also be included in the review.
