Morata scored twice and Griezmann was also on target

Alvaro Morata scored twice as Atletico Madrid kicked off the new LaLiga campaign with an impressive 3-0 win at Getafe on Monday.

Morata scored either side of half time, set up by Joao Felix on both occasions, as he marked his return from a loan spell in Italy with Juventus in style.

Antoine Griezmann scored the third goal for Atletico off the bench as Diego Simeone's side laid down a marker at the start of the new season.

The relationship between Morata and Felix was the big positive for Atletico. That was the front two chosen by Simeone and within 15 minutes the latter found the former in the box to open the scoring.

Atletico dominated the first half but Getafe were capable of creating danger still. Borja Mayoral hit the woodwork just before the break to sound a warning.

Getafe pushed on after the break but Felix took advantage of a mistake as the hosts played out from the back to tee up Morata for his second of the night.

Griezmann then got in on the act. The French forward, who started on the bench, completed the scoring with a great finish after over six months without a goal for the Rojiblanco.
