Leganés fans were the first to celebrate a victory this season as Asier Garitano’s team took a well-deserved three points against Alavés. The home team’s Gabriel Pires was the first goalscorer of 2017/18 and his goal was enough to give Leganés the win.
Alavés started strongly and missed a penalty in the 15th minute. The home team quickly reacted and went ahead through Gabriel’s goal. Burgui hit the bar for Alavés as they tried to force an equaliser but otherwise Leganés were relatively comfortable.
