The former Boro striker's €16m buyout clause is a potential stumbling block for the move to happen

If Eusebio Sacristan and Quique Carcel didn't already have enough on their plate hoping that Portu won't sign Sevilla, it nows appears as if Cristhian Stuani is also attracting interest from elsewhere. The Uruguayan striker, who had an excellent campaign last time out, is wanted by Olympique de Marseille. The French club are looking for a new forward and believe a move for Stuani is possible.

An official offer hasn't been made yet and it's simply interest at this stage, but enough to cause a bit of panic at Montilivi. This story isn't helped by the fact Stuani trained away from his teammates and didn't appear at a press conference as originally expected. The reason given at the time was a muscular injury. The club are relaxed about the situation and hope the striker will be available for the clash against Real Madrid on Sunday. Girona hope Stuani will see out the remaining years on his contract, he has two years to go, and believe the player is happy at the club. Although he did ask for a wage increase which the club didn't give him.

Marseille, or whichever club might come asking about Stuani, know that they'd need to pay his €16m buyout clause. For a player who is 31 years old, and close to turning 32, that's a lot of money. This is why Marseille aren't limiting their options to just Stuani and are looking at Moussa Dembélé (Celtic), Wissam Ben Yedder (Sevilla), Bas Dost (Sporting Clube de Portugal) and Julio Tavares (Dijon).
