Ferran Torres: "I have a contract here and I'm going to stay at Barcelona"

The Spain forward is adamant that he will remain at the club beyond the transfer window

Ferran Torres was one of the stand out players in Barcelona's loss against Arsenal (5-3). The forward made a good start to the pre-season tour in the United States, scoring one of the three goals.

Arsenal were much better prepared for the game, having played three friendlies in the last few days. Barça, with a very different reality, had yet to play a single minute of pre-season due to a stomach virus.

"We wanted the win, but Arsenal were very well drilled. We lacked rhythm, we were imprecise and the pitch didn't help. Now we have to think about (Real) Madrid (on Saturday), train hard and get into a good rhythm," Ferran said.

Ferran scored the third goal in Los Angeles after Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha had twice given Barça the lead.

"It's very important for a striker to start scoring, to get off to a good start. I'm going to fight for a place in the team, and then it is up to the coach to decide," he added.

FUTURE

With his future up in the air and being one of the players who is on the exit ramp, he wanted to speak clearly about his situation at Barça after the match.

"The names (on the exit ramp) are given by journalists. I have a contract here, I'm going to stay. I don't care what anyone says about me. I'm going to work as hard as anyone else," he explained emphatically.

DIFFICULT YEAR

The 2022-23 season was not the best for the player from Foios. However, he knows what he wants to achieve this season.

"I'm the first to be self-critical, it wasn't a good season last year but I learned a lot. These ups and downs have helped me to be stronger now," he concluded.
