Former Leicester, Monaco and Lille boss Claude Puel spoke to El Pais about various topics, including Alexandre Lacazette, one of the forwards who the Catalans might sign this summer.
"Lacazette could be a player like Luis Suarez," said Puel. "He can come back to midfield to play a bit and ask for the ball in space. For me he could do very, very well at Barcelona."
He thinks that Suarez has dropped a bit physically and Barcelona's game changing has hurt him too. "in a team that doesn't give him a lot of balls he would be finding it hard because he's lost the speed to make the difference alone. He can get in deep and ask for the ball as he's a goalscorer, but he needs something more."
Puel added: "With Guardiola Barca played 80 per cent of the ball in the opposition half. Now they play in a low block. When you're so far back you need a forward who can bear the ball to allow the team to advance, Suarez loses it continuously.
"That's where the problem is. Barca don't have players with those attributes, to sit back and defend in their half. Players like Alba and Busquets are good for defending in the opposition half but can't get the ball back if the team's stuck deep. If you want to play technical football you need technical players."
