Löw has signed an extension to take him up to the Qatar World Cup in 2022

The German Football Federation (DFB) have confirmed that coach Joachim Löw has renewed his contract until 2022.

Löw is preparing the country for this summer's World Cup but has now confirmed his presence at the next European Championships in 2020 and the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

Real Madrid and Arsenal were among the clubs thought to maintain an interest in Löw, but he has committed his future to Germany.

In total, he has now been in charge of Die Mannschaft for 12 years and led them to World Cup glory in Brazil four years ago.

The news came out on the same day that Löw named his provisional 27 man squad for the World Cup, including injured goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Löw took charge of Germany in 2006 after previously being Jurgen Klinsmann's No.2. Since then, he's coached 160 games and with this renewal, he will overtake the 167 matches overseen by Jupp Derwall, the current record holder.
