She will focus on football as her battled with the IAAF continues

Without being able to run until 2020, Caster Semenya has taken a step to the side from athletics and has signed for South African football team.

The double Olympic champion has signed for JVW Girls in her homeland as she appeals against the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), who recently upheld the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF)'s testosterone limit -- a ruling which means she must take hormone blockers if she wishes to continue her career as an athlete.

JVW celebrated her signing on Twitter, saying: "Good footwork, powerful shot, rock solid defending, although she needs to work on her speed."

The club's owner, the captain of the South African national team, Janine Van Wyk, was delighted to have managed to sign Semenya.

"I am extremely elated to have such an iconic athlete join my football club," she said. "I am absolutely honoured that out of all the other women's clubs around the world, she's chosen JVW as the club where she would like to start showcasing her football skills.

"I welcomed her at her first training with the team on Tuesday and was impressed to see that she definitely has all the fundamentals. I look forward to her working with Coach Ciara and our First Team where I am sure she will sharpen up and get ready to play in 2020."
