Official: Toni Duggan has signed for Atletico Madrid
The ex-Barcelona forward has signed a deall until 2021
As first revealed by SPORT a few days ago, Toni Duggan has finalised her move to Atletico Madrid. The England forward, 28, has signed a deal with the Rojiblanco until 2021 after spending the last two years at Barcelona. Her deal with Barça expired on June 30.
"This is an amazing opportunity to play for one of the greatest clubs in Europe," Duggan said. "I had several different offers -- from all around the world -- but at this stage in my career, I wanted to join a side that is consistently challenging for honours and Atletico's record is incredible.
"I have met both the captain and manager - this is the next level for me, in every sense. They have great players and I want to help them to retain the league and to go further in the Champions League."
Duggan strengthens an Atletico attack which has already been added to in the form of Charlyn Corral and Olga Ovdiychuk following the departures of Jenni Hermoso, Andrea Falcon and Esther González.
