Mapi Leon says "we need VAR" after her injury in Barca's win over Atletico

Mapi León suffered a serious blow in the match against Atletico Madrid that opened her eyebrow and forced her to play with a bandage for the remainder of the match. The defender later posted a message on her social media with a defiant message to the competition. 

"We need VAR" Mapi stated on her 'X' account, hours after the end of the match in which Barça won 0-1 against Colchoneros. In a corner kick, the central defender received a strong elbow that left her lying on the ground and in need of medical assistance. The action was not punished by the referee and a goal kick was ordered.

The centre-back received stitches on her left eyebrow, which had been completely cut open. Mapi León highlighted the need, in her opinion, to incorporate video refereeing in La Liga F in order to be able to punish this type of action.

Beyond this 'clash', Alexia Putellas was the star of the afternoon, as her goal not only earned Barça the three points, but also made her the club's all-time top scorer, surpassing Jennifer Hermoso.
