Barça to pay homage to 15 Women's World Cup stars before Sevilla match

Aitana Bonmatí will also receive a special tribute after being named tournament MVP

The 15 Barcelona players who took part in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand will be honoured this Friday before the match between Barça and Sevilla at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc, according to the club.

In total, there were 10 players from different teams who were present on the podium of the competition, including the Spain players Irene Paredes, Salma Paralluelo, Mariona Caldentey, Alexia Putellas, Cata Coll, Aitana Bonmatí and Ona Batlle, who were proclaimed world champions in a historic milestone for women's sport in the country.

England's Lucy Bronze and Keira Walsh also played in the final, finishing as runners-up, while Sweden's Fridolina Rolfö came third with her national team.

Nigeria's Asisat Oshoala, Norway's Caroline Graham Hansen and Ingrid Engen, Esmee Brugts of the Netherlands and Italy's Giulia Dragoni also took part in the competition.

Midfielder Aitana Bonmatí, who was named World Cup MVP and on 31 August was named UEFA's European Women's Player of the Year will also receive special recognition.
