The Barca femeni Ballon d'Or winner will hopefully be playing before too long

Alexia Putellas has returned to training with the Barca Femeni group after her bad cruciate ligament injury last July with the Spanish national team.

The Barca skipper has started a new phase of her recovery.

On July 12 last year she had an operation which has kept the Ballon d’Or winner sidelined. However, soon she will be back on the pitch, having moved on from individual training to the group session for the first time, albeit partially.

“You start to feel a bit of what I’ve always felt,” said Alexia.

“Now it’s a question of patience, of keeping working. We’re starting a new era, which is to go training progressively with the group.

“The doctors, who are those who understand all this, say that that whole process is going well. My feelings are very good.

“Now we will start a new phase and I’m really looking forward to being available, but that’s marked by the doctor and my knee. We’ll see how it reacts.”
