Alexia Putellas signs new contract with FC Barcelona until 2024!
The midfielder has put pen to paper on a new deal with the Catalan club
Barcelona captain Alexia Putellas has signed a new deal at Camp Nou, the UEFA Women's Player of the Year extending her stay at the club until 2024.
Alexia, 27, had less than a year to run on her previous deal, which was due to expire at the end of the current season.
"FC Barcelona captain Alexia Putellas has renewed her contract with the women’s team until 30 June 2024," the Catalan club confirmed Wednesday.
"In theory, she was leaving the club at the end of the season, but after putting pen to paper in the company of president Joan Laporta, she is now officially staying for two more."
Alexia had made it clear she wanted to stay and said: "I feel so happy. It’s an exciting day for me. I feel physically and mentally fit, and ready to work hard for the team, giving my very best to this club and trying to help the best club in the world even better.
“A new season brings new challenges. I am full of energy and ready to work with my teammates on continuing down the same path.”

Alexia has been at the centre of Barça's growth over the last decade and was the key player as they won the treble last season, including a first-ever Champions League trophy.
