The Victor Valdes era gets underway with Barcelona's U19s
Barça's youth teams started their preseasons on Monday
July 29 is the date that the Victor Valdes era began with Barcelona's Juvenil A team (U19s). After medical tests in the morning (Juvenil A and B), the former goalkeeper will have his first contact with the players on the training pitch at 18.30h. The team will travel to Vall d'en Bas on Friday for a mini-tour.
While there, on Friday, Aug. 2, they will have their first friendly, against CF Bosc de Tosca. After that brief spell in Girona, the team will travel to Saint Petersburg for a friendly against Zenit on Aug. 9. Following that, they will fly to Holland to take part in a competition organised by PSV.
Preseason will end with a special game on Aug. 27. Valdes' team will play in the inauguration match at the new Johan Cruyff Stadium against Ajax.
Valdes' side features two of the club's most promising youngsters. Forward Ansu Fari and midfielder Ilaix Moriba have both signed new deals this year, with 100 million euro release clauses. In addition, Louie Barry has been added to the team. Barça beat off competition from Europe's biggest clubs to sign the English youngster.
