The new Barca B signing is back in the Catalan capital, where he came from

Roger Riera is officially a Barcelona B player again. The one winter signing, asked for by Garcia Pimienta, brings leadership and experience. He turns 26 in February, and has played for Celta and Villarreal’s B teams, Nottingham Forest in England and Dutch side NAC Breda.

“Returning to Barca is always nice, important, I’ve educated myself and grown there,” said Riera to SPORT. “I hoped to come sooner but in the end things happen when they happen and I’m very happy, excited and looking forward to starting.”

He’s conscious that his signing “has not been easy, we all know the club’s situation right now.

“I’m very happy and excited that it could happen.

“Luckily I know the side, how the B teams work and the club, so I think I can help a lot and lend a hand on and off the pitch for the team. I’ll work like everyone else from the first moment.”

He won nine leagues with Barca youth teams and captained the team to the 2014 UEFA Youth League.
