Could Pau Victor be the new Ferran Jutglá after incredible start at Barça?

The young Girona striker has hit the ground running in the Blaugrana's reserve team

To compete with guarantees in the Primera RFEF (the Spanish third tier) requires finding the right striker. And Barça Atlètic seem to have hit the target with Pau Víctor. The front man from Sant Cugat was right to choose the Blaugrana reserve team as his destination to grow and vindicate himself.

He arrived on loan from Girona after a positive season at Sabadell with seven goals and six assists. He looks set to improve those numbers with Barça. In just five league games, his four goals and one assist are more than remarkable figures for Barça Atlètic.

Regular under Márquez

Pau Víctor has become an undisputed starter for coach Rafa Márquez. Gerard Martín, Moha and Pau Víctor are the only players from the reserve team who have played 450 minutes in these first five games.

Pau has played three games as a '9' and two as a left winger. It was in the latter position that he played against Taragona, where he played his best game as a Barcelona player. The two goals scored by the player from Valles were from a modern self-sufficient attacker who made the most of the balls that came to him on the edge of the area.

He is a 100% product of Girona's youth academy. In the 2019-20 season, he made his debut with the Girona first team under Francisco. In a month's time, on 26 November, he will be 22 years old. His youth, but at the same time his knowledge of the division, can be of great help to a reserve team full of talent but in need of players with experience and know-how in the Primera RFEF.

The Jutglá example

The last signing of a centre-forward who exploded at Barça Atlètic was Ferran Jutglá. The current Club Brugge player could also play as a winger and as a striker and his career with the reserve team was spectacular. The 19 goals he scored for Barça B and the two goals he scored for the first team catapulted him to a Champions League team.

Last season's '9', Roberto Fernández, was not as successful and the Andalusian did not score more than seven goals despite playing 36 games for the reserve team.

His brother Guillem

Pau Víctor has a brother who plays in Barça's academy, Guillem Víctor, the right-back of the Juvenil B. Guillem arrived from the Sant Cugat in 2017 and in these last six years he has become one of the most promising No.2s inside La Masia.

Guillem is a very technical full-back and attacks his flank with class and at the same time knows how to combine and advance inside in the style of Joao Cancelo. Guillem Víctor can also play at left-back and as a winger.
