The talented midfielder will play in the Juvenil A side after rejecting the opportunity to sign for Manchester City or Manchester United

Nico González will continue wearing the shirt of Barcelona next season. The midfielder began preseason with the Juvenil A side under coach Denis Silva on Monday and he'll sign his new contract soon.

As revealed by SPORT, Barcelona were concerned that Nico might leave the club a few weeks ago.  The midfielder is one of the brightest promises at the club and he's already played with kids in an older age category than him due to his potential. And it'll continue that way now as Nico, son of Deportivo legend Fran, will go straight to Juvenil A and miss out the B side altogether.

The youngster had various offers on the table. Manchester City and Manchester United were the two sides who pushed for him the most although the offer from Barça finally convinced him to stay. Whilst it wasn't as economically attractive as those from the English sides, it was what the player and his family wanted.

Barcelona have already devised a plan for Nico. He'll play with the Juvenil A side this season where he'll be involved in the UEFA Youth League. Next season he'll remain with the Juvenil A side but with a greater importance to the team and in his third year he'll be promoted to Barça B. He'll follow in the footsteps of Oriol Busquets and Abel Ruiz.

This is how Barça have managed to keep hold of one of their brightest talents. All that's missing is his signature on a new contract and this will happen once everyone is back from the United States so the official protocols can be completed. This is great news for La Masia.
