The two clubs are keen on the Danish youngster, currently at Lecce

FC Basrcelona are after one of the most promising players in European football, left-back Patrick Dorgu, who can also play inside. He is an 18-year-old player who is an U-19 international for Denmark and has won the Primavera tournament with Italian club Lecce.

In Denmark, Dorgu has been linked with Barça, who are looking for left-backs for their reserve team. SPORT has already announced that Román Vega, who was on loan from Argentinos Juniors, will not continue, like the rest of the players on loan.

Dorgu has become a highly sought-after player and Danish media outlet Bold.dk echoes the words of his agent, Kingsley Ogbodo, who explains the interest of several clubs, including Liverpool and FC Barcelona, who have enquired about his situation.

Liverpool want him to play in the U-23 team, while Barça would be thinking more about their reserve team. Lecce would also like to keep him and even offer him the chance to play next season in Serie A, while another name that has come up is that of Manchester United.

However, it seems staying at Lecce may be best for his development.

"It’s not the best for him [moving now], so I advise him not to do it," Ogbodo said. "[Those clubs] can offer him a lot of money, but that’s not what we’re looking for right now. We focus on his career, development and playing time."

In terms of his qualities, Dorgu is reminiscent of Alejandro Balde in several respects, perhaps not as fast but with an enormous physical power, which allows him, as can be seen in the video that accompanies this news story, to dribble past opponents with very good ball control and get to the opposing goal.

This season, he has scored four goals for Lecce in the Primavera (youth) league and has scored two goals and provided an assist for Denmark in five qualifiers for the U-19 European Championship.

One of those matches was against Spain on 22 March, a goalless draw at the Francisco de la Hera in Almendralejo.
