Messi: We have to think positively and change the shitty situation we're in

The Argentina star pointed out that they still have World Cup qualification in their own hands

Lionel Messi suffered a tough night at the Mineirao in Belo Horizonte as Argentina were beaten 3-0 by Brazil.

It leaves the Albiceleste out of the qualifying spots for the World Cup and Barcelona star Messi admits that things have to change if they want to be in Russia in two year time.

“We have to think positively and change the shitty situation we’re in, try to come out of it and become stronger,” he said.

“We know we’re going to receive criticism from all sides as has happened recently. We have to be more united than ever, because we all want the same, which is to be at the World Cup.

“I am angry for the result and the game. Regrettably it’s another defeat. Until the first goal we were OK, the second hit us hard and we lost our order. We left them a lot of space and they have quick players.

However, Messi was able to think positively, like he said, and pointed out that things are still in Argentina’s hands despite their lousy position in the standings.

He added: “With all the bad things which we’re going through and the situation we’re in, we still depend on ourselves.

“Winning against Colombia will get us back in the fight, but obviously it’s not the situation we wanted.”

"We have to change a lot but there are still a lot of games left and points in play. We’re not thinking about not qualifying.”
