PSG 1-2 Man City: Neymar's side collapses after the break

The French side were on top but fell apart in the second half

Man City did well in the second half to earn a 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain, but they had a helping hand from the collapsing hosts in the French capital.

PSG started well and quickly moved ahead. Neymar teased the City defence and perhaps shellshocked after trying to catch up with him, they were half asleep at a corner. Marquinhos rose well and headed home, across goal, to open the scoring in majestic fashion.

Phil Foden might have levelled before the break but fired too close to Keylor Navas, who repelled his effort.

They equalised through Kevin de Bruyne, with a freak goal, because former Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas reacted very slowly.

The Belgian curled in a tempting cross to the far post but nobody reached it, and Navas didn’t move quick enough, with the ball dropping in.

It was City’s first goal in a Champions League semi-final, but they didn’t have to wait long for the second.

Riyad Mahrez curled home a free kick which caught out PSG’s disintegrating wall, who expected De Bruyne to take it. Navas was slow to react too, and City were ahead.

PSG’s self-destruction continued with Idrissa Gueye making a shocking tackle on Ilkay Gundogan and getting a well deserved red card.

They held off City after that and will head to Manchester next Tuesday with a job to do.
