Alvaro Morata scored the two goals but it was not quite the perfect send off for Fabregas, who missed from the penalty spot.

Thierry Henry is now waiting for the former Barcelona midfielder in Monaco, with a deal expected to be complete in the coming days.

It looked like Fabregas would crown his final game with a goal wehn Ruben Loftus Cheek was brought down in the box in the 30th minute.

But Fabregas' effort was saved by Forest goalkeeper Steele and the Championship side made it to the break at Stamford Bridge goalless.

Then Morata appeared. The Spanish striker scored twice -- both set up by impressive youngster Hudson-Odoi -- as the Premier League side booked their place in the next round of the cup.

Fabregas' afternoon ended in the 85th minute when he was replaced by Kante, leaving the pitch to a rousing ovation from the home supporters.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, he's won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup. Next step: Monaco.
