Diego Costa undergoes surgery and will be out for at least three months
The Atletico Madrid striker has been complaining about discomfort for some time and hopes this will solve his problems
Atletico Madrid will be without one of their star players until the end of February. The club released this medical report earlier today: "Diego Costa underwent surgery on his cervical disc herniation in Madrid on Thursday. According to the information provided by the club’s medical services, the operation has gone as planned."
The initial return date is the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Assuming Atletico qualify, they begin at the end of February.
Costa, 31, has scored two goals in 11 LaLiga matches this season. He's failed to register a shot on target in four Champions League contests.
