Official: River-Boca Copa Libertadores final postponed until Sunday
The game has been moved back a day after an attack on the Boca bus
The second leg of the Copa Libertadores final between River Plate and Boca Juniors will now be played on Sunday at 21.00h CET after the game was postponed on Saturday following an attack on the Boca bus.
CONMEBOL president Alejandro Domínguez confirmed the game had been called off at River's Monumental home almost three hours after the game had been due to begin.
Boca's bus was attacked on the way to the ground, with the windows smashed by the home supporters. Tear gas also found its way into the vehicle and two players were eventually taken to the hospital as a result of their injuries.
Carlos Tevez, the Boca forward, said they were being forced to play the game as the kickoff was initially moved back.
However, a decision was finally made for the game to be moved to Sunday, much to the disappointment of the thousands of home supporters already seated in the stadium.
The first leg between the two rivals from Buenos Aires ended 2-2 at Boca two weeks ago.
