The defender hopes to sign the year off with a trophy this weekend

"Luis Enrique's one of the club's best ever coaches," he said

Gerard Piqué was the player chosen to speak to the press ahead of Saturday's Copa del Rey final at the Vicente Calderon.

"Alaves have been the revelation of the season," he said of Barcelona's rival. "They've done things well and tomorrow they an historic chance to win a trophy.

"I'm sure they will be really motivated, so we will have to match them in that and then be capable of showing our superiority."

Barça were beaten by Alaves at Camp Nou and then beat them 6-0 away from home, but Pique doesn't expect either result to have an affect on this weekend's game.

He added: "I don’t think the two league games count for anything. These surprises can happen like at Camp Nou and in the second game they had just qualified for the [Copa] final so the 6-0 win is not for reflective.

"I don’t think it serves to look at those two games to prepare for the final."

The game will be Luis Enrique's last in charge as Barça coach and Pique had words of praise for his manager.

"What stays with me is his way of being," the defender said. "I know he doesn’t always have an easy relationship with you [the journalists] but in the dressing room he has won us all over.

“He’s been one of the best managers in the club’s history. These three years have been magnificent, for the titles we have won but also for many other things. I hope he goes out with a trophy in the way that he deserves.”
