Goals from Jesus and Firmino booked Brazil's place in Sunday's Copa America final

Another international tournament ended in disappointment for Lionel Messi as Argentina lost 2-0 to Brazil in the Copa America semifinal on Tuesday.

Goals from Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino in each half sent the Albiceleste out and allowed the hosts to reach Sunday's final, where they will meet either Peru or Chile.

It was an improved performance from a changing Argentina team but it still ended in more disappointment for Messi against a superior Brazil side.

The Barcelona star came close to helping his country stay in the game. His free kick was headed against the bar by Sergio Aguero and he tested Alisson Becker after the break.

Leo ended the game with his head down, taking off his captain's armband, another personal disappointment for him and a collective one for his national team, who have also lost two Copa America finals since losing the World Cup final to Germany in 2014.

Brazil have never lost to Argentina in an official tournament game and that tradition has continued.
