This was the EIGHTH time Barça have scored at least 5 past Real Madrid

The drubbing that FC Barcelona gave Real Madrid this Sunday at the Camp Nou (5-1) is the eighth time Barça have scored five or more goals against their illustrious rivals in LaLiga.

The first time this happened came back in the 1934-35 season. Marti Vantolra scored four goals in that fixture. The second time it happened, in the 1942-43 season, was the only time the match ended as a draw. Mariano Martin and Valle, both with braces, and Escola, the scorers for Barcelona.

The next time arrived soon after the second in the 1933-45 season (5-0). César Rodríguez (2), Bravo, Escolà and Gonzalvo III all got on the scoresheet for then coach Josep Samitier.

The fourth time came in the 1950-51 season and was the highest scoring game against Real Madrid: 7-2. Marcos Aurelio and Nicolau scored braces with César Rodríguez, Gonzalvo III and Basora claiming the others.

In 1953-54 there was another 5-1 scoreline. The heroes on that occasion were Tejada (2), César Rodríguez, Moreno and Manchón. After that there was a huge break before we saw another high-scoring affair between the two sides. It eventually came in the 1993-94 season when Johan Cruyff was in charge. Romario (hat-trick), Koeman and Iván Iglesias with the goals.

It happened again in 2010-11, with Pep Guardiola in the dugout, as Barça sentenced Jose Mourinho's Madrid side to defeat with goals from Villa (2), Xavi Hernández, Pedro and Jeffren.

And the last one came this Sunday. Luis Suarez scored three whilst Coutinho and Vidal got one each.
