The first Clasico of the 2016/17 season now has a kick off time and date

LFP president Javier Tebas has confirmed when the first Barça-Madrid match of the season will take place

The first Clasico of the 2016/17 season between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will take place on Dec. 3 at 16.15 CET (Saturday).

LFP president Javier Tebas confirmed the Camp Nou kick off time during an appearance on Cadena Ser on Tuesday night.

It will be the first time in which the Clasico has kicked off at this time since La Liga brought in the 16.00 kick offs (which has now become 16.15) in a bid to boost the league's profile in other countries.

Barça have already kicked off several fixtures at this time, including the win over Sporting Gijon and the upcoming matches against Deportivo La Coruna and Valencia.

Last season the Catalan side kicked off 15 of their 38 matches at 16.00. They won 11 of them, drew three and lost just one.

"We had three windows we had considered, at 13.00, 16.15 and 18:30," Tebas explained.

"We analysed those with our audiovisual team and to play at 18.00 is too late in Asia while to play at 13.00 is too early for the American market."
