The Barcelona midfielder felt his team should have got a penalty in the Clasico loss

Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto returned from an injury in Saturday's 2-1 Clasico defeat to Real Madrid at the Alfredo Di Stefano.

"It's been a long time without playing," he reflected after the game. "I got injured in November and then had a relapse. It was important to get back, play some minutes and to help the team."

Roberto's return was marked by a late decision not to give a penalty for Ferland Mendy's foul on Martin Braithwaite.

"I was in front of it, I think he touched him," Roberto said. "What annoys me is that they didn't even review it, it surprised me they said so quickly there was nothing in it. Afterwards the VAR can decide if there's enough contact or not.

"But we tried until the end. It's a shame not to get the draw, which would have been good for us against Real Madrid. We tried, we came close at the end but there is still a long way to go in the league."
