Real Madrid take head-to-head advantage in tight La Liga title race

A 0-0 draw at Camp Nou and a 2-0 win at the Bernabeu gives Los Blancos the edge

Barcelona traveled to the Santiago Bernabeu on with the objective of moving five points clear of Real Madrid, who went into the Clasico two points behind the Catalans.

That five points would have effectively have been six points, as a win would have given Quique Setien's side the head-to-head advantage between the two sides.

Instead, it's Madrid who won, moving one point clear at the top of the table and snatching the head-to-head record from Barça.

Following the goalless draw at Camp Nou in December, the 2-0 win on Sunday means Madrid will now win the league if the two sides end level on points in May.

As things stand, there are 12 games to go and Zidane's side have a slender lead. There will be many more twists and turns, but Madrid are now the front runners.
