The defender responded in good humour to Pique's comments about Los Blancos

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos laughed off claims from Gerard Pique that the current Madrid side is one of the worst he has played against.

Speaking after losing Sunday's Clasico 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu, Pique lamented Barça's failure to take advantage of what was, in his opinion, a shocking first-half display from Madrid.

"I would take playing as badly in the first half as he thinks we played if it meant winning every Clasico," Ramos told reporters after the win which took Madrid back to the top of La Liga.

"(What Pique said) is respectable. You can't agree with everyone... Our plan was to leave the ball to them and then completely change in the second half and press high.

"We were fresher after the break and maybe they weren't for the effort they put in during the first half. It was three really important points in the end."

Ramos refused to hit back at Pique when asked if this was one of the worst Barca sides in recent years.

"Not at all," he responded. "I didn't think they were bad. I respect the way they play."
