The hat-trick hero says that Barça do need Messi but that the team showed what they were capable of against Real Madrid

Luis Suárez was the man of the moment after scoring a hat-trick in Barcelona's convincing 5-1 victory over rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico.

For the striker, this performance topped off what has been an extra special week for the Suarez family.

"It's come in a very important week with the birth of my third child. The fact my children accompanied me on the pitch is very important to me."

After being reminded that he 'almost always' scored against Real Madrid, Suarez wanted to remain respectful to the opposing team. "Sometimes it's difficult to live in situations such as these when things aren't going right and you are getting poor results. We need to understand those situations because they are fellow footballers too."

Suarez admitted the side found it tough in the opening ten minutes of the second half. "They came out looking to get back into the game. Straight away they make it 2-1 and they had another chance (to make it 2-2), but we made a huge effort in defence and took advantage of the space to punish them on the counterattack."

On the absence of Lionel Messi, despite winning 5-1, Suarez claims they need the Argentine back in the team as soon as possible. "Of course we need him. It's a huge advantage to have the best player in the world. With that, we've shown that we are a great team with a fantastic coach and that's important to the club."
