Lionel Messi found Paulinho and the Brazilians' fierce shot seemed destined for the net, but for a phenomenal reflex save by the Costa Rican goalkeeper.
Only his miracle save stopped Barcelona taking the lead - although they later ran riot in the second period and Navas made a bad mistake for the third goal, letting Aleix Vidal's shot squirm under him.
