Barça coach Luis Enrique shows off his ironic side before the Clasico

Lucho was his regular self as he spoke to the press ahead of Real Madrid's visit to Camp Nou

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique spoke in a press conference on Friday ahead of the Clasico. He spoke about the key themes to the game against Real Madrid.

Despite the importance of the game, the Asturian coach was as relaxed and dry as ever, making plenty of ironic comments as he dodged certain questions.

Here are some of his answers...

“It’s important to win the Clasico for what it means to beat a direct rival, who have the same objectives as us, but to hope it would put an end to the criticism would be naive. [The criticism] is always there and it’s necessary. [A few questions later] Maybe I’ve exaggerated about the criticism…

“I am from Gijon but I consider myself part Catalan, I’ve always got on well here (…) maybe not here per se, but outside of the press conferences!”

“I will sleep well, don’t worry. It’s not my first Clasico. It’s great game to play, there is a lot around it, lots of expectation, but in the end you have to control your emotions. If I don’t, I don’t know what I can ask of my players. I’ll go for dinner with my wife and some friends [on Friday night], I Hope tomorrow we have some sun and I’m sure 100,000 ardent Barça fans cheering us on.”

“In my position, either you’re optimistic or you’re chucked out the window.”

—“I’ve played so many Clasicos and have so much experience, which is great, but I don’t have any special memories of any of them."
