The Portuguese was sent off against Juventus while Madrid trashed Roma

Former Real Madrid player Luis Figo spoke about his Portuguese compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the club.

Figo said Ronaldo was “an impressive player” but “life continues” and the new players “will make history”.

“Madrid play very well and you have to congratulate them on their performances after the Ronaldo era,” said Figo.

“Real Madrid are the current champions and their main objective is to defend it and have another good season.

“Ronaldo’s red card was a bit exaggerated. In the end you think he didn’t do anything so bad to get sent off. I don’t know what the ref could have seen, but on TV it’s hard to analyse.”
