The midfielder, on loan in Italy from Barcelona, lasted 65 minutes before being replaced by Yann Karamoh.
Both of Inter’s goals came after the Brazil international had been taken off, with defenders Milan Skriniar and Andrea Ranocchia on target.
Benevento ended the game with 10 men when Nicolas Viola was sent off for a second booking 10 minutes from time.
