The Portugal forward is willing to do his bit to help the Italian club through tough times

In quarantine in his room at the Hotel J, the Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini makes video calls to his teammates to establish a common view with how to treat the issue of a wage cut during the coronavirus pandemic. He has taken responsibility during a difficult moment.

The initiative, revealed by Tuttosport, allows the Juve players to be an example for the world of football. Chiellini, after speaking with presdient Andre Agnelli and general director Fabio Paratici, began consulting his teammates to see how much they were ready to give up.

He began with the veterans: Gigi Buffon, Leonardo Bonucci and Cristiano Ronaldo. The goalkeeper, the defender and the forward all backed the measure and Chiellini continued to call the rest of the team. Talks have not finished, mainly because there are different proposals, but in general all the players are ready to take a hit.

The fact that Ronaldo was the first to back the deal was important, given that he's the best-paid player at the club (31 million euros net annually). Juve calculate that they would save around 20 million euros a month with big wage cuts.
