Arsenal defender Pablo Mari, on loan at Monza, was stabbed in the town of Assago after a man went berserk.

One person has died, a Carrefour supermarket employee, and four are injured including Mari.

"I just found out. I know Edu [the technical director] has been in touch with his relatives. He's in hospital but he seems to be okay,” said Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager.

A 46 year old man has been arrested and no reason for his attacks has been specified.

Mari, 29, joined Monza after coming to Arsenal in 2020 from Brazilian team Flamengo.
