The seven youngsters set for Barcelona's preseason tour of the USA

After being knocked out of the play-offs for promotion to the Second Division, the Barcelona Atletic players are now on holiday. Many of them are still waiting for their futures to be decided, too.

Rafa Marquez, the Mexican coach of the team, renewed his contract this week until 30 June 2024. Between him and the sporting management, they now have to put together the squad for next season. The names of the players who will accompany the first team on the tour of the United States between 19 July and 2 August must also be decided.

Three names have been confirmed already: Lamine Yamal, Marc Casadó and Aleix Garrido. All three have already made their debuts in the first team under Xavi Hernandez and are three players that the coach native likes a lot. The first of them, still at U16 age, will turn sixteen on 13 July and it will be then when he will be able to sign his first professional contract, which has been negotiated by Jorge Mendes with Barça.

The future

It is expected that three more players could join these them. They are Arnau Tenas, Chadi Riad and Estanis Pedrola. Everything will depend on their situations, as all three seem to have completed a cycle in the reserve team and, when the first team tour begins, perhaps one of them has already left the club on loan. In fact, goalkeeper Tenas' contract expires on 30 June. Barça have the possibility of renewing that commitment for two more seasons, but have not yet executed that clause.

Another player who will be training under Xavi for much of the pre-season will be 18-year-old Senegal centre-back Mikail Faye, who Barça have just signed for their reserve team from Croatian side NK Kustosija for €1.5 million.
