Other clubs look to have jumped ahead of Barça in the race for the winger

Alberto Moreiro, the new star of UD Las Palmas, is drifting away from Barcelona, who have not made a renewed move for the player, as explained this Friday by the president of the club from the Canary Islands, Miguel Ángel Ramírez, to the programme 'Què t'hi jugues'.

"It was not an economic problem, in the summer there was an agreement in principle but then things could not be done", commented Ramírez on the negotiations carried out with Barça during the summer market. Everything has changed since then.

He added: "For Barça, it was important to put together the squad to compete in the current season and the economic fair play did not allow us to calmly look for a solution to the operation."

Since then, nothing has moved between the two clubs: "It is still pending, I know that Barça like the player," said Ramírez, although he was clear that "he is in a shop window where big teams in European and Spanish football are interested." In fact, when asked if Real Madrid are among them, he assured that "the big teams like him."

The signing of Pedri, who tried out for Los Blancos before signing for Barça, was a mistake that Real Madrid are not willing to make again, so it would not be strange if Moleiro was one of Madrid's targets for next summer.

What is clear is that Barça are not making a move: "With Barcelona, after the summer, we haven't spoken about Moleiro again. They told me they were going to follow him, but obviously we haven't spoken about him again. You have to understand the economic situation they are going through. I think they have other priorities than Moleiro."

On a rumoured recent meeting with Jordi Cruyff, he was blunt: "I'm a person who doesn't lie and even less about something that has no transcendence. My last meeting was with the president himself and it was in the summer. We decided that when Barça were clear and interested, we would talk again, but we have never spoken again."

Finally, Ramírez revealed that "he has a clause of 30 million and, if we go up to Primera, it goes up to 60 million." However, he made it clear that "I'm not going to deceive, right now there are very advanced talks with other entities, which is possibly where the player could end up."
