Barcelona will face Real Madrid on Wednesday in Saudi Arabia

There’s no time to mope around after the draw with Granada. On Wednesday, Barcelona face Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup. With the bad news of Eric Garica’s injury, Xavi does not have all of his team fit and ready.

The only area there are no doubts is in goal, where Marc-Andre ter Stegen will start.

In defence, Gerard Pique will be paired with Ronald Araujo, if he is back from his arm injury in time, and if not then Clement Lenglet.

At full back, Dani Alves and Jordi Alba seem essential for Xavi.

Sergio Busquets, Nico Gonzalez and Gavi are favourites to play in the middle, while Frenkie de Jong will be in the squad but he might not be fully fit yet. Pedri and Riqui Puig will likely be on the bench.

In attack there are a lot of doubts. Ferran Torres is waiting to be registered and get his Covid-19 negative. Memphis Depay just came back from injury, while Luuk de Jong has hit good form. Ansu Fati will have medical clearance to play, but Xavi does not want to take risks with him. Abde and Ferran Jutgla will be ready. Ousmane Dembele is the only forward who seems guaranteed to play.
