Xavi reveals Laporta is asking for one big thing

Barça have managed to get back to winning ways this season, lifting La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup. Despite this, the Blaugrana still has one thing to do -- take a step forward in the Champions League.

FC Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez explained the next steps for the team and has confessed the next objective that president Joan Laporta is demanding in an interview on the programme 'Universo Valdano'.

Xavi pointed out that Barca fulfilled their objective as "La Liga was the main objective of the season, not because we were eliminated from the Champions League, but because we had already discussed with the president that the main objective of this season was to win La Liga."

Furthermore, the Catalan coach admitted the curious comparison of his time at the helm made by Laporta.

"The president compares it a lot with Rijkaard's season. In Rijkaard's first season we didn't win anything, we came second, but we had a second half of the season when we started to see things. The following season we won La Liga, which is what we've done now. And the following season is when we win La Liga and we have the good fortune to win the Champions League."

Xavi Hernández also stated that "winning the Champions League is surely what will be demanded of us this season, at least competing to win it. The club's objective is to compete to win the Champions League."

In this way, it seems that president Joan Laporta has already made it clear to Xavi Hernández that the next step that the Barça team must take is to compete and win the top European competition.
