Xavi, on Ousmane Dembele: He renews or we look for an exit
The coach was clear on the winger but he doesn't know if he will play on Thursday
Xavi Hernandez and the club are sure what they have to do with Ousmane Dembele. Either he renews or he must be sold, now. There is no option of him spending the rest of the season in the stands.
“He renews or we look for an exit for him,” said Xavi in his press conference. “The club have decided that if he does not renew then we have to look for a solution. We have to do the best for the club. It’s been five months since Mateu Alemany spoke with him and his representatives.”
In terms of if he will play against Athletic, Xavi said: “Tomorrow we will decide. It’s not an agreeable situation for anyone, but what’s clear is that here the club’s interests come first.”
Asked why Dembele might not want to renew his contract, Xavi smiled and said: “But he tells me he wants to stay, so that’s a question for him. I can’t have been clearer. He has not let me down. It’s a very complex case.”
